We were skeptical, given that "herbal extracts"
are alleged to cure everything from dandruff to
decapitation. So on successive nights we downed
heroic amounts of beer, wine and spirits to test
the patch (and numb the crushing pain of a particularly

Preparing for a recent boozy evening, I slapped

patches between my shoulder blades, as instructed.
And I drank: First came the bubbly to celebrate
a coworker's move into a new apartment. Then a
half bottle of wine with dinner, mixed indiscriminately
with several glasses of sangria. I was feeling

A typical Thursday night out in NYC includes four
hours of socializing in bars and a least
8-10 vodka tonics. A typical Friday morning in NYC
includes 30 minutes of throwing up at work and 30
minutes of trying to sneak a nap in the nurses office
